Position Summary
The Licensed Acupuncturist/Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner provides comprehensive patient care within an integrative healthcare setting. Working under the supervision of physicians and in collaboration with multidisciplinary providers, the practitioner evaluates patients, develops individualized treatment plans, and delivers acupuncture and other TCM therapies. This role also supports patient education and collaborates with the care team to develop programs that address the needs of diverse and specialized patient populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, including health histories and physical evaluations, to determine TCM diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Develop, implement, and document individualized treatment plans.
- Provide acupuncture treatments in accordance with TCM principles and best practices.
- Perform complementary therapies, including therapeutic massage, soft tissue and muscle manipulation, trigger point therapy, cupping, and moxibustion.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on self-care techniques, lifestyle modifications, exercise, and nutrition to support treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an ACAOM-accredited institution, completion of an approved acupuncture apprenticeship/tutorial program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience providing acupuncture and therapeutic massage treatments.
- Successful completion of a California Acupuncture Board-approved supervised clinical internship/training program.
- Valid and active California Acupuncture License required at time of hire.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles, diagnosis, and treatment methodologies.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and behavioral status evaluation using a TCM framework.
- Proficiency in acupuncture, acupressure, therapeutic massage, muscle manipulation techniques, and herbal medicine instruction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including proficiency in medical terminology and clinical documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, physicians, clinicians, students, and staff.
- Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple responsibilities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
