We are seeking an accomplished UX Product Designer to play a pivotal role in shaping the design of our enterprise web system and supporting the cohesion of our digital ecosystem. Collaborating closely with development, web operations, and client success teams, you will design intuitive user experiences and interaction frameworks for UCLA Health’s expansive digital footprint, including the flagship UCLA Health and David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) websites, as well as multiple secondary and tertiary sites. You will also mentor web strategists on the team, helping to elevate user-centered practices across initiatives.
As a recognized technical leader with deep expertise in UX and digital design, the UX Product Designer will address complex challenges that often lack established precedents. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will develop and maintain a comprehensive web component library and associated user experience standards, driving consistency and innovation across high-visibility platforms that reach broad audiences and carry a significant consequence of error. Your work will span research, design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of digital initiatives.
This role is responsible for leading the research, creation, and refinement of front-end designs, mockups, graphics, and digital assets that support application development projects ranging from tactical assignments to multi-year strategic programs. You will oversee the user experience lifecycle of digital projects, from setting goals and timelines to collaborating with the Senior Director of Enterprise Web and UX to ensure effective resource allocation and cross-functional alignment. Critical to this position is ensuring strict adherence to brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and user-centered design principles across all digital applications. You will gather user feedback at every stage to ensure final products and services fully reflect the needs of our diverse audiences.
Salary Range: $95,400 – $208,300/annually
On-Site Schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote (option for flexibility in remote day)
- A Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- 5 or more years of experience in UX design, Product design, UI design, particularly in enterprise web systems or SaaS products
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to clearly articulate design choices and rationale
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers and product managers
- Strong experience in Agile environments
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC, etc
- Advanced knowledge of interaction design principles and methodologies
- Advanced understanding and skill with digital communication methodologies as pertains to design, media production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, and web interaction design
- Advanced knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, ADA)
- Experience contributing to design systems, such as Storyboard, React, PatternLab, etc
- Experience with user research techniques and usability testing
- Ability to provide direction and mentor other team members when needed
- Advanced project and time management skills
- Familiarity with front-end development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus
