The Staff Research Associate will work as part of the research team working to understand the mechanisms of circuit dysfunction that underlie neurologic diseases including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our laboratory pursues these investigations using multimodal imaging techniques and behavioral studies of mice.
Duties will include ordering supplies, stocking the lab, managing inventory, making stock solutions and reagents, maintaining the animal (mouse) colony, performing skilled animal surgical procedures, performing immunohistochemistry, conducting two-photon in vivo imaging experiments, data analysis, and orienting undergraduate students to lab policies and safety procedures. The SRA will be directly supervised by the laboratory principal investigator, but should be able to conduct most routine tasks independently, and will work cooperatively with other lab members including post-doctoral scholars and undergraduate students. Candidates must have experience with animal husbandry, rodent surgery, immunohistochemistry techniques, machine learning tools for image analysis, and MATLAB coding. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a passion for neuroscience research.
Salary Range: $28.69 – $34.21/Hourly
ALL Required:
- 1+ years of research experience in a wet lab setting.
- Experience with small animal surgery
- Experience with rodent colony management
- Experience with mouse behavioral assays
- Experience with brain dissection and immunoflouresence.
- Experience with microscopy
- Experience with computer programming for data analysis, including MATLAB and/or Python.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area
- Ability to keep accurate and organized lab records
- Ability to learn new lab technique
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
