Provide the tools necessary to deliver cutting-edge health care and groundbreaking research. As part of our Information Technology team, you’ll ensure that our medical professionals have access to the latest breakthroughs in technology, and you’ll play a key role in protecting our global patient community.
This position will provide audiovisual (AV) technical support for a broad range of audio/video equipment. Provide expertise in the installation, operation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and user training of multi-media equipment across UCLA Health Sciences. Duties include: installation, operation and maintenance of complex AV systems; coordination of staff and work-study technicians to support scheduled classes and events; setup of portable AV equipment for classes and meetings; hands on user training and support; digital signage and video conference support; simulation, podcasting and audience response system support.
Qualified candidates will have at least 2 years experience directly supporting AV equipment and users in a higher educational, corporate or hospitality environment. A focus on customer service, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills are absolutely essential to assisting faculty, staff and students with technical issues in a friendly, approachable and effective manner.
Preferred candidates will have additional experience and expertise in one or more of the following AV disciplines. Audio & Acoustics, Digital Audio (Dante, Cobranet etc.), Digital Video (EDID, HDCP, etc.), DSP programming, Video Conferencing (Zoom, Cisco, Polycom), Digital Signage, AV System Design and/or Project Management. Installation experience with networked AV equipment including install, terminate, test and label a variety of low voltage and AV-specific cable types: CAT5/6, coax cable, speaker wire, line-level audio and microphone wire, etc. Installation experience including running wire, installing speakers, hanging flat panel TV’s, rack wiring, system testing & troubleshooting. A CTS certification, or other industry or manufacturer training is preferred.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the “home office” location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.
Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $31.03 – $65.90 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and midpoint of this range.
Proven expertise supporting a wide range of audio visual (A/V) equipment such as AMX control systems, displays, projectors, Extron scalers and signal processors, DPSs, computers, sound and light systems, radio communication devices, etc.
Ability to organize and coordinate resources to expedite solutions and complete projects within given deadlines.
Ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks, to set and reestablish priorities as circumstances dictate.
Demonstrated skill in working independently with and follow through on assignments and tasks with minimal direction.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, procedural, technical, and administrative information to clients, staff, and management.
Demonstrated skills in diagnosing and troubleshooting end user problems, recommending and/or performing efficient/practical solutions, and following through to completion.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Demonstrated ability to working effectively with staff and faculty to maintain on-going cooperative relationships with clients/end users.
Knowledge of industry standard practices and procedures as related to A/V presentation services within a conference center and university teaching environment.
Ability to stand, climb, stoop, push and crouch for extended periods of time as required completing job duties.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for short periods of time for installation, repair, and trouble shooting of hardware systems.
Ability to work after normal business hours, weekends, and respond to emergency calls as necessary and when appropriate.
Hands on experience with terminations, diagnostic tools, cabling, and hand tools
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7 and above
Knowledge of Apple OSX and iOS operating systems and platforms
Ability to work through tasks independently with minimal direction and still be able to maintain good communication
