Under the direction of the Department Director, the Patient Transport Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing daily operations for the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center (RRUCLA) Patient Escort/Transportation Services Department.
This role ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality transportation services across the medical center while providing leadership, operational oversight, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Workflow Management
- Coordinate and manage daily departmental workflow, including Patient Escort, Transportation, and Volunteer Staff
- Oversee Central Dispatch operations and ensure timely, efficient service delivery
- Supervise hospital discharge areas to support patient flow and throughput
- Monitor and streamline transportation services, hospital/staff shuttles, and vendor relationships (e.g., valet services)
Staff Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and support Escort, Transportation, and Volunteer staff to ensure productivity and service standards are met
- Provide direction to Leads and oversee staff operations on a 24/7 basis, as needed
- Serve as a resource to staff by offering guidance, problem-solving, and training
Special Program Coordination
- Coordinate transportation services and support for Operation Mend and International Relations patients
Systems & Technology
- Train and monitor staff on the EPIC Dispatch system
- Partner with EPIC H.I.T.S. Team and clinical/ancillary departments to support system implementation and enhancements
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for EPIC-related workflows
Quality, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and manage departmental documentation related to productivity, QA/QI initiatives, and compliance
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and support reporting needs
- Evaluate and update policies and procedures to align with best practices
Financial & Administrative Support
- Assist with budget planning and financial oversight for departmental operations
Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position is
$86,400 -$
184,800 annually. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is approximately between the start and midpoint of this range.

Requires a minimum of 5 years experience in an acute care hospital in the Transportation Department or equivalent in a Management position.

Demonstrated skill in project management, including performance of functional and operational analysis.

Knowledge of Federal, State, and University regulations as they pertain to areas of responsibility.

Knowledge of community and national healthcare institutions administrative practices and trends.

Managerial skills to accomplish the many projects related to the management of the diverse areas of responsibilities.

Ability to review and analyze information under time constraints and make prompt and appropriate decisions. Knowledge of business management principles and practices in a teaching/research health center, and skill in applying those principles to the department operation.
