The CRUMP Institute is seeking a skilled and motivated Staff Research Associate I to support innovative translational research in autoimmune disease and molecular imaging. The incumbent will establish, maintain, treat, and analyze animal models; conduct PET molecular imaging experiments and quantitative analyses; perform mass spectrometry and standard mammalian cell culture experiments; and contribute to data collection and interpretation. Responsibilities also include maintaining meticulous laboratory records, ordering supplies, ensuring proper equipment maintenance, and supporting overall lab operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced research environment.
Hourly range: $28.69-$34.21
Required:
- Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, etc;
- Familiarity and experience with techniques including fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS), mammalian cell culture including primary cell culture, and mass spectrometry;
- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing; Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students;
- Familiarity and experience to perform PET molecular imaging and analyses
- Strong organizational skills in order to set priorities to complete work in a timely manner and to adapt to frequent changes in fluctuating workload;
- Ability to keep laboratory space clean, organized, and ready for future tasks and experiments;
- Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
- Ability to create and maintain detailed and accurate records; Ability to work comfortably with mice;
- Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary;
- Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form;
- Ability to carefully handle radioactivity according to UCLA Radiation Safety protocols and follow laboratory safety regulations and requirements
Preferred:
- BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.and/or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Minimum one years of related experience or training.
