Under general supervision of the BURL Supervisor and BURL Manager, the HLT performs, a wide variety of technical and non-technical procedures, independently, within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The HLT prepares specimens for analysis as needed, i.e. label, centrifuge aliquot and receive and follows up when specimens are unacceptable. Performs laboratory functions within the expected turn-around time according to established procedures and management guidelines. Performs accurate computer order entry functions. Assists in validation and implementation of new processes, software and/or equipment. Follows through to completion of job assignments with minimal supervision by the management team. Answers calls and provides accurate and appropriate information. Records and reviews maintenance records for accuracy. Assess overall workload and help coworkers without being reassigned by the supervisor. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and other shifts as needed. May be required to perform other duties as requested for operational purposes and is required to cover at any of the BURL sites.
Must be able to provide coverage at all BURL locations: Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Woodland Hills, Santa Clarita, Porter Ranch, Calabasas, Burbank, Century City, Encino, Panorama City, and Torrance).
Salary Range: $45.74 – $45.74/hour
May convert to career.
• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET)
• Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in a high-volume testing laboratory
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays and other shifts as needed.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
• Skill in performing related computer procedures (LIS, HIS).
• Knowledgeable in quality assurance practices, preferred.
