The Home-Based Supervisor oversees 7-10 Child and Family Educators, ensuring they meet performance standards, and deliver comprehensive services. The person in these positions monitors adherence to Home-Based Head Start Performance Standards, focusing on infants and toddlers, child screenings, assessments, and curriculum fidelity. The role involves planning and implementing home visits and socialization sessions, conducting monthly supervision sessions, and evaluating the quality of the home visits. Additionally, the supervisor views documentation, including data tracking and lesson plans, and ensures accurate data entry in childplus.net. They work closely with the Head Start and Early Head Start Assistant Director and other staff to align with program policies and goals.
This is a contract position that may convert to career.
Salary Range: $68,800.00 – 141,000.00 Annually
Required:
- Minimum B.A. degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field (must include core child development units).
- Child Development Permit
- California Teacher’s Credential/ or Home Visitor CDA or Family Developmental Credential (require to complete within one year of hire)
- Valid California driver’s license and available transportation.
- Fingerprint screening, Criminal Record and Child Abuse Index Clearance
- Per funding agency requirements, all Early Head Start staff must complete background checks at least every five years that includes sex offender registry check, State or FBI criminal history check, including a fingerprint check, child abuse and neglect state registry check if available in the state of California.
- Three (3) years teaching and/or home visiting experience with an emphasis on infants and toddlers.
- Experience working with children with special needs.
- Experience with curriculum implementation in particular Home-based curriculums.
- Experience and knowledge in supervision techniques (e.g., reflective supervision).
- Fluency and proficiency in English
- Completion and submission of required personnel forms prior to employment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with families, Early Head Start staff, community resource agencies, consultants, and volunteers to support families in locating and accessing appropriate community services as needed.
- Ability to provide education, training opportunities, and promote positive relationship building for all enrolled pregnant women, families and their infants and toddlers.
- Ability to conduct on-site staff training if needed.
- Knowledge of California State Labor Laws, UCLA Personnel Policies, and bargaining unit, knowledge of Child Abuse Reporting
Preferred:
- Knowledge of management of children’s programs
- Knowledge of program philosophy, goals, principles, objectives and requirements; Early Head Start policies and procedures; understanding of child development principles with an emphasis on infant/toddler developmental stages and nurturing concepts; prenatal development and appropriate health care during pregnancy; family dynamics, cultural beliefs; advocacy and intervention concepts; crisis management, community resources and referral; processes and functions of social service agencies.
- Family Development Credential Training
- HOVRS knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge on Ages and Stages screeners and childplus record management software.
