The DGSOM Office of Physician-Scientist Career Development (OPSCD) provides support for physician scientists across the training continuum (medical students, residents, clinical fellows, junior faculty, and mid-level faculty). OPSCD works collaboratively with the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), existing research training programs, department chairs, deans, research theme leaders, residency and fellowship program directors, and other faculty to coordinate and strengthen physician scientist training throughout the DGSOM.
As our Program Coordinator, you will assist in the development and implementation of educational and training activities for OPSCD, CTSI Workforce Development Program (WDP), Institutional Career Development Core (KL2) for junior investigators/faculty, Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA TL1) Training Core for predoctoral and post-doctoral trainees. You will assist with curricular development, implementation and pre/post competency assessment. You will also manage event planning, including budgeting, activities and conferences, drafting communications, and managing the OPSCD website, social media, and promotional materials across digital platforms. You will also manages data as it pertains to trainee/participant recruitment, longitudinal tracking and evaluation data for various activities to generate reports for DGSOM and CTSI leadership.
Salary Range: $25.95 to $54.50 Hourly
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 3 plus years of working experience in an office setting.
- Flexibility to adjust work hours for meetings and events.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain positivity under intense pressure, short deadlines, and demanding, often competing requirements.
- Demonstrated skill in working as part of a collaborative team, sharing responsibility and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, to create meaningful connections and communication with faculty researchers.
- Ability to formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions and to make recommendations based on situational judgment, problem solving, and inductive reasoning.
- Excellent Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, outlook e-mail, internet, PowerPoint, database software) E-calendars, online scheduling assistant software, teleconferencing and webinars.
- Skill in reading comprehension, writing grammatically correct letter and reports. Verbal reasoning including ability to speak to individuals using appropriate grammar and vocabulary to obtain or distribute detailed information. Knowledge of UCLA School of Medicine policies and procedures preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple projects with various deadlines.
- Ability to work productively in-person and remote.
- Experience with research training programs preferred.
- Experience with developing and maintaining relational databases preferred.
- Familiarity with using PubMed, myNCBI, NIH RePORTER, and xTRACT preferred.
- Experience with website design/development preferred.
