The Assistant Director, Ambulatory Reporting & Analytics, will assume a pivotal role in directing and overseeing strategic and tactical decisions for UCLA Health Clinics’ business intelligence tools and applications. This leadership position involves building and managing a dynamic team of developers and analysts dedicated to gathering requirements and crafting advanced analytic solutions in support of UCLA Health’s extensive network of 280 clinics, handling over 3 million visits annually.
As the visionary leader, the Assistant Director will be responsible for steering the team that develops, communicates, and implements the Ambulatory Analytics strategy, aligning closely with the directives set by senior leadership. This involves leveraging cutting-edge tools such as Cogito Data Warehouse, Clarity, Reporting Workbench, Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, SSAS, Slicer Dicer, and xDR.
In collaboration with various stakeholders, including end-users, application teams, Epic TSs, Super Users, FPG teams, and others, the incumbent and their team will play a crucial role in optimizing existing analytics, architecture, and technology. The Assistant Director will lead efforts to identify opportunities for improvement and the adoption of new technology, working closely with teams to collect, interpret, analyze, and present institutional data.
Moreover, the Assistant Director will provide expert guidance in technical aspects, managing and mentoring the development of data modeling. This encompasses the entire lifecycle, including design, development, and documentation of the model, as well as the creation of associated metrics and information delivery models. By embodying a commitment to excellence, the Assistant Director will play a key role in shaping the future of Ambulatory Analytics at UCLA Health.
Salary Range: $105,200- $250,600
Required • Bachelor’s degree in a clinical subject, healthcare informatics, or related area and / or equivalent combination of experience / training (masters preferred) • EPIC Data model certification (May be obtained within 6 months of hire date) • 7+ years of previous experience managing analytics or reporting services functions and teams in a healthcare environment • Leadership and managerial track record • Leadership in Project management and process track record • Extensive knowledge of best practices regarding reporting, workflows, policies, procedures, systems and culture in the healthcare environment • Strong knowledge of data warehouse concepts, data structures, Business Intelligence platforms and visualization packages • Experience managing front-end Business Intelligence tools and building reports • Senior-level knowledge of SAP Business Objects architecture, functions, features, and capabilities • Understanding of SQL as well as relational and multidimensional designs • Experience in gathering, documenting, prioritizing and tracking requirements • Ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and BI query objects • Strong problem-solving and metadata skills • Strong interpersonal and communications skills • Organizational skills and customer service orientation • Demonstrated ability to influence and shape consensus, lead group discussions and presentations to clinical and business operations leaders from across the organization • Ability to establish and maintain a spirit of cooperation and respect, flourish in an unstructured environment, and always engage in professional and ethical conduct • Ability to remain calm in difficult and stressful situations • Must recognize problems, evaluate, and refer to the appropriate channels for action • High functioning team skills, including active listening, rapport building, effective written & verbal communication, receiving and delegating work assignments • Ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization • Ability to identify, document, resolve and/or escalate issues and maintain a complete issues log • Ability to research organize, analyze, and synthesize data to support effective decision making • Ability to manage multiple and competing tasks |
