As a Senior Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the hospital, including patient rooms, isolation rooms, nursing stations, ancillary and exam rooms, procedure rooms, conference rooms, offices, hallways, corridors, and public areas.
You will perform a variety of cleaning and floor care duties, including sweeping, stripping and waxing floors, dusting, and cleaning vertical and horizontal surfaces using approved cleaning solutions. The role also involves operating equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, wall-washing machines, shampoo machines, and floor machines.
You will also perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when directing co-workers.
- Ability to interact effectively with patients, customers, and associates while providing excellent customer service and promoting teamwork.
- Ability to operate a variety of housekeeping equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor machines, carpet extractors, auto scrubbers, and pressure/steam cleaning machines.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to take initiative and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to work within defined time constraints.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to frequently:
- Bend at the waist while standing.
- Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Stoop and squat.
- Twist and bend the neck forward and backward.
- Remain standing for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–3 years of housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting.
- LA Unified School District Janitorial Service certification.
