The RN II is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the nursing process and other input from healthcare team members. You must be able to travel another UCLA facility to assist with coverage when needed. In this role you will also be responsible for performing clinical nursing duties that includes but not limited to assisting physicians in performing procedures in endoscopy area, GI lab, administering medications and, monitoring vital signs and medications, and provide health education, procedure instruction/information to patients and families.
As the RN II you will be responsible for the all-around healthcare needs of patients who are under the care management of the faculty members on an as needed basis. You will also act as liaison between the MDs, the patients (including the family and staff members), schedulers, clinic staff and UCLA and non-UCLA physicians involved with the patients’ healthcare. And you will provide up-to-date patient status reporting to the physicians and nurse supervisor by presenting laboratory or procedural results either in written or verbal form as well as conveying information from patients.
Salary Range: $96.74 hourly
Required:
- BSN or MSN
- BCLS and ACLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Current valid CA RN License
- Ability to complete a Nursing physical assessment
- Skill in developing a plan of care including setting goals, monitoring and documenting progress
- Ability to implement interventions that are pertinent to goals established in the plan of care
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions toward the attainment of established goals and to recognize the need to reassess or reset goal parameters
- Ability to delegate tasks in a management style that is consistent with promoting leadership and teamwork
- Knowledge base to provide education to patients, families, and other staff regarding clinical and patient care issues
- Must be willing to travel between the endoscopy area/GI lab sites.
- Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of care specific to endoscopy area/GI Laboratory, including conscious sedation.
- Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and ability to identify dysrhythmias.
- Demonstrate an ability to assist physicians in performing procedures in the endoscopy area/GI Laboratory practicing medical and surgical asepsis at all times.
