We’re looking for a dynamic Assistant Director who thrives in fast-paced environments to play a key role in driving operational excellence and supporting high-quality patient care across multiple ophthalmology clinic locations.
In this role, you will serve as the primary operational partner and trusted deputy to the Clinic Operations Director, helping to lead day-to-day clinic operations while ensuring teams are supported, processes run smoothly, and patients receive exceptional care. You’ll step in to make critical decisions in the Director’s absence and help guide both immediate operations and long-term strategic initiatives.
- Partner closely with the Director to oversee daily clinic operations across multiple sites
- Provide leadership and guidance to clinic staff, supporting performance, engagement, and accountability
- Serve as the acting lead in the Director’s absence, making decisions that impact patient care and operational performance
- Lead and execute strategic initiatives, projects, and process improvements
- Monitor operational performance metrics and identify opportunities for optimization and growth
- Oversee budget management, including tracking expenses, forecasting, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and efficient clinic workflows
- Support a culture of high-quality patient care, service excellence, and continuous improvement
- Master’s degree (Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public health or related field) or combination of education and relevant experience.
- Previously demonstrated Healthcare managerial experience and expertise in managing patient services and nursing staffing in environment with a high volume of patient visits.
- Clinical leadership, planning and change management skills
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and/or regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze all pertinent information/data to make and communicate decisions to meet the unit’s current and future needs.
- Effective interpersonal and political acumen skills.
- Ability to establish a culture of integrity within their unit and with those external to the units.
- Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations and procedures to define objectives, identify patterns, and formulate conclusions.
- Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with faculty, residents, medical students and staff from various social, cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Skill in communication to clearly convey complex problems and proposals in both formal and informal situations.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of diplomacy in persuading and influencing a wide variety of people at various levels to achieve results.
