The Lawrence Lab (lawrence-lab.org) is seeking a Staff Research Associate to support biochemistry and cell biology projects. The SRA will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research projects in the lab and to author publications. The position will spend 50% time on lab management including ordering reagents, coordinating supplies, and maintaining critical lab equipment. The successful applicant will contribute to projects defining mechanisms of disordered stress signaling in the context of neurodenerative disease and metabolic disorders, combining cell biological experiments with biochemical assays and iPSC-derived model celluar systems (including iPSC-derived glia). Additionally, this position will support data management systems, ordering and maintaining new lab equipment, and managing lab reagent ordering.
Salary: $28.69 – $34.21 hourly
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting and conducting research
- Working skills with basic molecular biology laboratory equipment
- Ability to perform several tasks at once, communicate clearly and work in a team environment.
- Ability to learn new methods and protocols
- Must be responsible and able to work independently, without close supervision
- Knowledge of PC and macintosh computers, spreadsheet and word processing programs
- Ability to perform basic technical duties such as logging in reagents and data analyses
- High organizational skills; Ability to organize lab stocks and keep careful records in lab databases and lab notebooks
- Knowledge and experience with cell culture techniques—especially stem cell cultures
- Bachelors in Molecular Biology or related field
- Knowledge of protein purification techniques, including bacterial or human cell expression, column chromatography, and S.D.S. page gel electrophoresis is highly valuable
- General knowledge of cell and molecular biology.
