The UCLA Division of Urologic Oncology is looking to fill the role of a Sr. Physician Assistant (PA).
The Sr. PA is expected to provide exemplary patient care consistent with the UCLA Health CICARE Service Excellence. This individual will independently review medical histories, evaluate patients in clinic and via telemedicine, perform comprehensive physical examination, review laboratory and imaging results, formulate treatment plans, manage prescriptions, and provide patient education.
The PA will manage clinical questions by telephone and Epic in-basket, perform procedures as needed, and manage clinical issues that arise following procedures and surgeries, address prescription-related issues such as prior authorization, and carry out related tasks for the UCLA Division of Urologic Oncology under the supervision of the attending urologists.
Incumbent must be self directed and function with minimal direct supervision. Salary range: $82.4- $110.84/hourly |
- Active license to practice as a Physician Assistant in California and must possess certification as Certified Physician Assistant through NCCPA-required
- Current BLS Certification from AHA or ARC- required
- Minimum of 2-5 yrs experience as an APP – required
- APP experience In a urology setting – preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish-preferred
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Program-required
- Ability to operate, navigate computer systems to obtain lab results, log clinic visits, and input/retrieve data. – required
- Knowledge of disease processes and treatments in patients with urologic problems- preferred
- Ability to perform urologic tests and procedures – preferred
- Demonstrated ability to orient, train, monitor and oversee clinical support staff in patient care responsibilities- required
- Ability to assess unique needs of individual faculty practices and to determine appropriate patient care requirements – required
- Possess interpersonal skills and effectively communicate with patients, their families, members of the health care team, the lay and professional community – required
- Ability to perform patient assessments and take appropriate actions – required
- Ability to exhibit flexibility in adjusting to changing demands and requirements, prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workloads, assignments, or deadlines – required
- Skill in teaching patients, families and groups of health professionals using appropriate audio visual materials — required
- Skill in writing patient notes, progress reports, correspondence, consent forms and other patient materials and in editing written material for grammatical correctness – required
- Ability to create and document protocols and procedures -required
- Strong organizational skills to create patient treatment plans- required
- Ability to work independently, set goals and objectives, prioritize work activities-required
- Ability to determine when to function independently and when to request physician intervention-required
- Ability to assess patients’ need for information and emotional support and to meet, either directly or by referral, any needs identified-required
- Knowledge of University policies/procedures related to functions and responsibilities of the position-required
- Knowledge of EMR systems-required
