The Evidence-Based Practice Specialist/Nurse Scientist supports infrastructure for the dissemination and application of evidence-based knowledge to improve nursing practice and related outcomes. Collaborates and consults with nursing leaders and clinical nursing staff to enhance professional nursing practice, patient care delivery, and outcomes of care using research and other forms of evidence. Provides mentorship and participates in the conduct and dissemination evidence-based practice initiatives. Responsible for educational development and support of nurse oral and written scholarly products for dissemination of clinical inquiry activities, including grant proposals, IRB applications, abstracts, manuscripts, as well as the Magnet applications for each of the system sites. This position serves the UCLA Health system hospitals and nursing staff.
Salary: $116,300 – $264,600 Annually
Required:
- Master’s degree – REQUIRED
- Doctorate (PhD or DNP) – PREFERRED
- Active Registered Nurse Licensure to practice nursing in the state of California – REQUIRED
- 2 – 5 years related experience in a healthcare setting – REQUIRED
- BLS – REQUIRED
- Knowledge and ability to develop and deliver EBP education and training material for clinicians.
- Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based practice and teaching.
- Ability and creativity to guide others through change and to new levels of understanding.
- Ability to take initiative and function in a self-directed manner.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to participate in the development and delivery of new education and training programs and to develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.
- Advanced skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to actively listen and convey the most complex clinical, technical, and education and training information in a clear and concise manner, and to produce high-quality reports, documentation, and presentations.
- Skill to write and publish in peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed journals and texts, including abstract, manuscript and grant writing with successful track record of submissions. Ability to write and edit creative, concise and grammatically correct documents.
- Ability to design and communicate evidence-based practice findings through professional poster and podium presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess highly-complex and urgent problems to develop an expedient path of resolution.
- Ability to orient and work in a team environment at all UCLA Health locations.
- Knowledge of relevant funding sources.
- Prior experience with integrating internal and external evidence into clinical practice
Preferred:
- Doctorate (PhD or DNP) in Nursing with a strong emphasis in evidence-based practice
