Take on a prominent position in the Operating Room. Under the general direction of OR leadership; the incumbent is responsible for assisting the anesthesiologist in the preparation of equipment needed to administer anesthesia; setting up invasive lines for patient monitoring; performing cell saving procedures; setting up Laser and Video equipment and assisting in Laser procedures; setting up other OR equipment; Job duties will be performed following department protocols and manufacturer’s recommendations in operating equipment; adherence to established procedures based on anesthesiologist’s preference in setting up invasive lines.
We are seeking candidate who have the following skills and abilities:
· We strongly prefer candidates with either certifications recognized by ASATT: Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.).
· Ability to operate a cell saver machine to recycle a patient’s blood during surgery and reduce the need for transfusions – preferred
· BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association – required
· Competency in operating Laser, video, Endoscopy, other major OR and monitoring equipment.
· Ability to work in fast paced and stressful environment.
· Ability to prioritize own work to complete assigned task during shift.
· Management, Handling of hazardous substances and Medical Device Act.
· Knowledge of the Mission and Philosophy of SM-UCLA Medical Center.
· Knowledge of Patients’ Bill of Rights.
· Knowledge of AORN and AAMI Standards specific to areas of responsibility.
· Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
· Ability to meet physical requirements of the job relating to lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing
· 50 lbs or more, extensive walking and standing and manual dexterity in operating equipment.
