The Nursing Practice Outcomes and Magnet Coordinator (NPOMC), Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA (“RNPH”), works independently with a high degree of autonomy, as well as collaboratively with the Manager, Nursing Excellence; Executive Director Nursing Practice, Education and Research; Chief Nursing Officer of the assigned hospital/entity; Unit Directors and leadership teams; and clinical staff to promote nursing excellence. The NPOMC manages and supports quality related nursing standards of care for the organization in accordance with organizational goals and objectives as directed. The NPOMC also works with the nursing division and other departments across the health system to support the Shared Governance model, further enhance evidenced-based nursing practice, improve patient and nursing satisfaction, and assist with the ongoing development of professional growth opportunities for clinical staff.
GENERIC SCOPE: Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in Nursing Practice Outcomes and the Magnet Recognition Program, with recognized expertise in these areas. Problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues and problems without precedent and / or structure. Program management includes formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources.
CUSTOM SCOPE: Applies extensive knowledge of quality data analysis and quality improvement concepts, methodologies, and data collection and abstraction techniques to substantial projects of large scope and high degrees of complexity.
ENVIRONMENT: Health care (hospital, clinical, classroom setting or similar environment as the role requires.)
Salary: $112,900 – $256,900 Annually
Required:
- CPR
- Current CA RN
- Strong clinical background in healthcare.
- Prior experience with Magnet designation
- Knowledge and ability to support clinical performance, evidenced-based nursing practice, and nursing interventions.
- In-depth knowledge of Magnet and QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory/Magnet requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of QI models, tools, and techniques, including collection, abstraction, validation, analysis, reporting of data, and use of performance and benchmark indicators.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.
- Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills to manage multiple levels of highly-complex information and responsibilities, to quickly assess problems, and to develop and implement timely and effective solutions.
- Advanced interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with all levels of clinical and technical staff and representatives of external agencies and for mentoring staff.
- Advanced ability to effectively convey complex clinical, technical, and educational information both verbally and in writing, and to produce high quality reports, documents, and presentations.
- Advanced knowledge of various administrative and business software packages, including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint), and of the specialized applications for quality data management.
- Advanced skills to influence and persuade staff, management, and clinicians at all levels and across departments.
