The Department of OBGYN is seeking to hire a full-time Staff Research Associate IV (SRA IV) to work under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator, in a cutting-edge gynecologic oncology research laboratory (G.O. Discovery Lab). This Lab focuses on determining the molecular basis of epithelial cancer formation, progression and treatment. Following consultation and planning with the Principal Investigator, the SRA IV will independently plan and carry out experiments involving cell lines, animal models and diagnostic and functional assays towards understanding the molecular, cellular and genetic events involved in the formation and progression of gynecologic cancers.
Duties include:
- Basic and advanced molecular biology and cell culture techniques, such as tissue culture, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, single cell proteomics and transcriptomics.
- working on high-throughput drug screening studies to identify small molecule and immunotherapy treatment candidates.
- working with the PI on preparation of manuscripts and funding proposals, annotating methods and interpreting data, and contributing to the analytical, strategic and technical aspects of planning and writing.
- Designing, planning and conducting in vitro and in vivo experiments and is expected to participate in and make innovate contributions to research projects.
- Ability to schedule and prioritize work, and to recognize when collection of one type of data may compromise the collection of another.
- Providing updates on progress and discuss future plans with PI during regular meetings outside of weekly lab meetings.
In this role you will plan and take general direction from the Principal Investigator for individual projects in the laboratory. All administrative supervision will be provided by Laboratory and Safety Manager.
Pay Range: $73,046.78 – $117,544.05
- 5 or more years of post-graduate wet lab research experience (some can be as part of advanced degree program), strongly preferred to be in a cancer/oncology environment
- MS in biomedical/life science field (candidates with PhDs are preferred)
- Experience or knowledge in one or more of cancer, immunology and translational research.
- Demonstrated experience in common and modern molecular, cellular and genomic techniques in laboratory environment including flow cytometry, IHC, proteomics, transcriptomics.
- Authorship of multiple peer-review scientific publications. at least one must be a first authorship.
- Ability and experience preparing data and contributing toward technical and analytical aspects of scientific writing for manuscripts and funding applications.
- Ability to use and maintain basic and advanced laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, PCR, fluorescent microscope, etc.
- Ability to communicate in oral and written form, for the purpose of providing concise information to others in the laboratory. This includes the ability to record experiments and results in laboratory journal in an accurate, complete and timely way.
- Ability to design, plan, coordinate, and carry out experiments . This requires the ability to schedule and prioritize work, and to recognize when collection of one type of data may compromise the collection of another.
- Ability to recognize irregularities and invalid results. Ability to make sound measurements and observations.
- Ability to perform work carefully and precisely so that meaningful data is collected in a manner which can be reproduced in this and other laboratories.
- Ability to conduct multiple experiments in close temporal proximity.
- Ability to understand experimental design and goals of study.
- Ability to seek out and read scientific literature to solve all levels of research problems, to read and understand the current scientific literature and to use existing experimental protocols as guidelines.
- Ability to handle sensitive & confidential information.
- Experience with or in-depth knowledge of high throughput drug screening
