Front Desk receptionist who will provide patient care support services to include appointment answering high volume telephone calls, triage to appropriate individuals, appointment scheduling, cancelation/rescheduling, reception/check-in, pre-registration, cash collection, insurance verification, auditing of billing, and general administrative duties. Provide assistance with clinical and procedural and testing appointments. Ensure all necessary paperwork is in place prior to appointments, including but not limited authorizations. Other tasks as assigned.
Salary Range: $25.60-$36.33
Required:
- Reading skill sufficient to understand documents such as training guides and registration worksheets written to standard English text.
- Skill in speaking on a one-to -one basis with persons of various cultural, economic and educational backgrounds to obtain information and explain admission/registration policies and procedures.
- Interpersonal skill sufficient to interact diplomatically with the public in a high volume public contact setting and with members of the health care team.
- Skill in writing legible, concise and grammatically correct documentation in standard English.
- Typing skill sufficient to input verbal or written data into University’s EMR System with accuracy and speed.
- Skill in accurately transferring data from worksheet into University’s EMR System.
- Skill in organizing material and information in a systematic manner to maximize efficiency and minimize duplicate effort.
- Skill in adapting to and implementing frequently changing registration procedures.
- Oral communication skills to conduct registration interviews.
- General knowledge of medical diagnosis in order to correctly interpret referrals.
- General knowledge of third-party, government programs and other sponsoring agencies.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to attend to many details within a short span of time.
- Ability to work independently and exercise appropriate decisions.
- Ability to back up co-workers during staffing crisis situations such as sick leave, vacations, and emergencies.
- Ability to maintain composure in situations involving emergencies or heavy workload.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of ICD-10 sufficient to code medical diagnosis.
- Skill in telephone business etiquette and a working knowledge of multi-line telephones.
- General knowledge medical terminology.
- General knowledge of medical insurance providers including HMO’s, PPO’s, Medicare, managed care insurance companies, and Medi-Cal to determine co-payments.
- Ability to handle delicate issues with sensitivity, maturity and professionalism.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient medical records and information.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word to type miscellaneous correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to departmental attendance standards.
Preferred:
- Detailed knowledge of University’s EMR System procedures.
