Job Duties

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Program Director and the Director of Psychological Health Programs, the Intake Coordinator will be supervised daily by the Program Manager of Operation Mend. The incumbent is primarily responsible for identifying potential Operation Mend participants who meet the eligibility requirements for the Operation Mend Program. The individual will participate in all initial conversations with new potential patients, family members, and other referring entities.

They will serve as a liaison between the Operation Mend participants, Operation Mend staff and participant’s local case manager and care providers to ensure continuity of care. Using appropriate screening criteria, incumbent will work with the patient and accompanying family member(s) through intake process. The Operation Mend program serves veterans injured in combat or training while on active duty for any conflict designated by the United States Military. Many of these individuals have served in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and Operation New Dawn (OND) and are suffering from complex physical injuries, traumatic brain injury and/or post-traumatic stress.

Ability to travel throughout the greater Los Angeles area as needed to meet with veterans, families and veteran’s groups.
Some evening/weekend appointments required.
Excellent writing and communication skills, and ability to effectively and positively interact in person, by telephone, e-mail, on web to veterans and their families in large group or small settings.
Ability to inspire, educate, and recruit military veterans and their families who need support with physical injuries, PTSD and TBI to come into the Operation Mend program for evaluation and treatment and ongoing care.
